Well it’s day 5. Nothing much
happened. When we were heading out for lunch we got lost trying to find a
specific canteen we wanted. We finally
found the canteen after 15 minutes and it was next to the running track and the
field. I ordered mixed rice. There was rice with some spicy chicken and a
vegetable of my choice which was cauliflower and seaweed soup. The stall owners
here always manage to con us of our meat. Like for example whenever I order
chicken fried rice, there was always a minimal amount of chicken. Even today
for the meat dish they managed to com me of my meat by cooking tiny slices of
chicken with a large amount of capsicum and onions. We ordered Xiao Long Pau which is pork bun and pork
dumplings. They put too little filling and too much dumpling skins in the Xiao Long Pau and the filling was really
weird tasting. However, the pork dumplings were really nice but they too had
more dumpling skin than filling. We headed off to the campus supermarket to
stock up on food for our mountain trip tomorrow, which most of us are looking
forward to. At the supermarket, I there was an entire row designated just for
instants noodles and it was a really huge row!! I’ve noticed that certain
brands of instant noodles put the noodle packets and empty paper bowls. On our
way back to class, I noticed that they were a group on students carrying
cleaning supplies. According to Irfanah who has been to Beijing on an exchange
trip, the students here take pride in keeping their classrooms clean. Aaaaand I
was too lazy to go out for dinner so I had instant noodles.
