Day 3 in Wuhan!!!

Its day 3 here now!! It’s our first day of lectures and tutorials. I think most of us are still on holiday mode. :P So we had out to our classroom in the Foreign Language School building around 8.40am as our class started at 9am and since the walk from our dormitory to the school is a distance. From the dormitory to the school there is a hill to climb. Seems wherever we go there is always a hill to be climbed just like back in Ngee Ann Poly where we always have to cimb up the dreaded LSCT hill. We reached the school 10 minutes early so we decided to explore yet another colonial looking deck right outside the school.
When we arrived at the classroom, sitting atop the teacher’s desk were 2 boxes made of newspaper filled with chalk!!! One had coloured chalk while the other had just white chalk. This brought back memories as the last I remember using a blackboard in school was when I was in Primary 4. When we sat down, each table has 4 seats and 2 computer monitors to be shared among students. 2 students are to share one monitor. This monitor displays whatever the lecturer has connected to the projector. In our case, Dr Sujt connected his laptop with his Powerpoint slides and we are able to view the lecture slides right next to us instead of constantly looking up to the projector screen in front. This helps us as if we are sitting in the back rows, we don’t have to strain our eyes to view the front projector screen.
We headed to have lunch at the canteen next to the library. On the way, we found this mystical pathway. It looked fit enough to take wedding photos there. :) The canteen has a really different concept compared to what we have back in Singapore. For every dish you take, they charge you on the spot for each dish using a food card which you top up with a minimum of RMB50. It’s somewhat like the Kopitiam card we have back at home. They also have a cafeteria style like environment. We decided to buy drinks and I bought this mini bottle of Coca Cola. It was so cute and adorable I’ve never seen a smaller bottle ever. The straws here are also really thin. They are like half the size of the ones we have in Singapore.
Then on our way back to our dormitory, we saw that there were thousands of students heading to class or heading back to their dormitory. I’ve never seen so many students even in Ngee Ann Poly. I noticed then when we were walking that a lot of the students kept staring at us. I think it’s cause we’re exotic looking and they rarely see foreigners here in Wuhan. After lunch, we had ttorial where we watched a drama called cold case where old murders that weren't solved many, many years back and reopened and solved using new technology.
Later in the evening, we decided to get dinner early. However, we didn’t really know what to eat. We then decided to have some ice cream, yes ice cream, from KFC the ice cream was totally different in texture. It was softer compared to the ice cream in Singapore. We then searched for a restaurant to find dinner and ended up eating at the China version of KFC, Pala. I ordered a prawn burger, with fries and warm mango juice. The reason the drink was warm was because there is no water supply in this whole region here and none of us are able to shower until tomorrow morning but I guess it’s alright since the weather isn’t humid and we don’t sweat so much. On our way back to the dormitory, they were screening an English, yes English, movie called 12 Zodiacs in the middle of the street but the local could understand it as there were subtitles in Mandarin for them. This is the first time I’ve seen such a thing happening in the middle of the street.
